With Niaga® as their partner, OBJECT CARPET has successfully achieved the vision of a circular carpet. The Dutch Covestro company Niaga® (which is "again" spelled backwards) has specialised in research related to circular recycling.

The Niaga Product Passport provides 100% transparency on NEOO's material composition while also allowing users to view other information, such as the take-back process.

Together with Niaga®, we were able to make our long-standing vision of a circular carpet a reality. "Developing a recyclable, sustainable, and pure carpet is one of the greatest challenges our company has ever faced.

All the better that in Niaga® ('again' spelled backwards), we found a partner who brought competence in technology and materials to this development," says Lars Engelke, CEO of OBJECT CARPET GmbH.

Innovative production process.

Niaga®'s state-of-the-art and innovative manufacturing plant for polyester-based carpets is the central component for a fully integrated carpet production – MADE IN GERMANY is our passion.

Our landmark technology uses a fibre binder that fuses the face fibres to the backing. The hot-melt process means no primer is used, instead the face material is joined to the backing by applying Niaga®'s polyester adhesive. This production method means that, at the end of its life cycle, the carpet can be recycled without being sorted and with very little effort. What's more, there is no dyeing process (solution dyed), and no water or gas is required during coating.

Transparent factory.

With our new transparent factory in Krefeld, we want to make a lasting change in the industry. Our mission is to advance sustainability and circularity in the carpet industry. We are convinced that the innovative NIAGA® technology that uses a mono-material solution to enable carpet-to-carpet recycling is the right way to go for the environment and future generations. And so we are ready to share our knowledge – with you our customers as well as with other interested parties and, yes, even with our competitors.

Take-back and recycling

Zero Waste. Endless Life.

Recyclability and recycling processes require experts and specialists in materials, logistics, and reprocessing – there can also be no success without the interest and cooperation of all our customers and partners. In the future, the take-back process for carpeting will be supported by the so-called Niagatag – attached to the product, this mark creates transparency and reminds users not to throw the product away.

The tag also provides additional information such as material composition and the take-back process. After all, take-backs are the key to the circular economy.

OBJECT CARPET returns old carpets to the raw material cycle through molecular and mechanical recycling – what's more, the company's take-back system means that laying and cutting scraps can be 100% recycled.
